Ms. Emily Bleimund

Emily Bleimund is the Director of Trade and Health, in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Global Affairs. In this role she develops HHS positions on trade policy and public health issues, and represents HHS in a variety of forums including international health, environmental, and trade negotiations and in the U.S. government interagency trade and health policy process. Principal topics include: access to medicines; intellectual property rights; pharmaceutical regulation, pricing, and reimbursement; climate change; plastic pollution; nutrition policy; investment protections; and tobacco control. Prior to her current position, Emily served as International Policy Counsel at FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products as an Associate Attorney at King & Spalding LLP’s international trade practice group in Washington, DC. She earned her Juris Doctor and Masters in International Trade and Investment Policy from George Washington University. Prior to graduate school, Emily worked for the American Cancer Society, where she focused on international tobacco control issues.
