IGBA Statement as new member of the Coalition for Access to NCD Medicines and Products
The International Generic and Biosimilar medicines Association (IGBA), an association of associations that is the global voice of generic and biosimilar medicines industries, with members from all over the world, is pleased to join the Coalition for Access to NCD Medicines and Products.
Non-communicable diseases are on the rise and impacting the lives of people around the world. International Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Association (IGBA)’s vision is clear: to improve patient access to quality-assured, safe, and more affordable medicines. By doing so, we aim to accelerate progress towards better health for all.
Generics and biosimilars are centrepiece to increased access to medicines and to the realization of UHC goals.
We look forward to joining this important group and to participating in much needed discussions around increased access to safe and affordable medicines for the treatment of NCDs, and around the collaborative ways in which our organizations can work together towards the realization of UHC. Opportunities for engagement at the World Health Assembly, and potentially at the United Nations General Assembly, through the Fourth High-Level Meeting on NCDs are, we expect, early ways to collaborate, among many more to come, and we are excited about them.
We thank you again for accepting the IGBA as a member in the Coalition for Access to NCD Medicines & Products and we are keen on finding ways we could join forces for enhanced access to safe, quality-assured, cost-effective treatments to fight NCDs.
